What's the best way to remove the bearings at the end of the axels and the one for the pinion gear? I am stripping down a 12-bolt GM rear for external blasting and painting and a full internal rebuild don't know the best way to get them out. I suspect they are pressed in....

Thanks,

Joe

This is the tool that I use for the axle bearings. You can rent one from Auto Zone or other auto parts stores. http://community.webshots.com/photo/55411986/55415257FNaMLZ You need a press and a bearing seperator for the pinion bearing. http://community.webshots.com/photo/55411986/55412019QTEzMf When I have a housing sand blasted I leave the axle bearings, seals, rear cover and pinion seal in the housing so the machined surfaces don't get ruined by the blasting. I reomve them after the sand blasting and the housing has been primed.
