Replaced the original Muncie M20 shifter with Hurst Comp.Plus shifter using the application it was assigned. The shifter rubs the right side of the console plate (3 and 4th gears)and 1st gear is too close to the top. Any suggestions??????

You can adjust the shifter to the trans front to rear (one bolt hole on the shifter is slotted), but I don't think so left to right.

Are you using the comp + with the U-bolt mouting? If so it should work. Maybe something is mis aligned. If crossmember was removed. Might be in backwards!!!
I do not know if this would make a difference or not. Maybe someone else knows this.
Maybe you can shift tranny to cross member to the left.
You can take off shifter and make a shim the same shape as shifter body including the top and bottom holes. Install between the shifter and adapter plate.
Maybe slightly bend front right console mounting bracket to the right a little and bend the left to the right alittle.

I have a 67 with a Muncie and a Comp plus w/console. I installed this about 18 years ago and the shifter is centered. Using the u-bolt clamp. Also check the trans mount to see if it's not the problem. Fore and aft is easy as Ron said. Left to right has me confused...Maybe you can shim the stick?

I guess depending on how much it rubs. You could also grind a little off the handle, where it bolts to shifter. ( Lefy side of handle )

What shifter or installation kit are you using? You should be using installation kit #
3734529
