Well folks, my Z/28 is getting closer to going back together, and yet another change for added performance. I good friend who builds a ton of Trannies put together a real nice M22 for me with the Italian M22 Close Ratio Gears from Antonio Maseiro. They are available through Auto Gear in New York and are a great item for those M22 rebuilds. However, they are now offering the M22 cut gears in a wide ratio design so I am changing them out. I have also decided to install one of their Muncie Supercases for some added strength.
The reason behind the change is due to a switch of intakes. I sold all my DZ Carb stuff and the intake where I will now be installing my Crossram Intake onto the newly restored Z/28. I am running the stock 373 rear gears and this wide ratio M22 gear set will definitely help launch the car like it has a set of 434 gears in the rear. After banging it into 4th gear it will be right back to 373 gears which will help the cause when this car gets cruised across Canada to all of the local shows later this summer.
I can't wait to try them out and see how this bulletproof street tranny holds up. For those of you that don't know, the trans will be coupled to a Lakewood blowproof bell housing and is being run behind my spare DZ motor. A 355ci mouse with some bowtie heads and a real healthy solid camshaft. This will build more than enough power to carry the wide ratio through the gears and wil surely raise a few eye brows as its now capable of running high elevens at sea level and a solid 12 second time here on the street. Woohoo!
Can't wait for July to roll around. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
