Is there a way to install the cross member backward ? There is three small holes next to where the pad mounts, do those go on the drivers or passenger side. I'm installing a 4 speed

The holes should go to the drivers side, if you are talking about the holes where the stock shifter would bolt to the crossmember.

Those would be the ones. I didn't know what bolted to those holes. Thanks

In a first gen, the stock cross member trans mount area is angled upward towards the front. If you put it in backwards there is an obvious gap where the mount bolts up.

Thanks I just haven't gotten that far yet and since it's 2 degree weather I'm working in I don't want to do it twice. And incase you were wondering NO I don't have a heater.
