I know this seems very basic but here goes.

What type of transmission fluid should I put in a 1968 powerglide?

I would think it would be Dexron II like other GM's. Unfortunately I don't know much about the powerglide and I don't want to make a mistake and add the wrong stuff.

Second that ! Might be labelled as DEXRON III or MERCON-DEXRON.

just a quick primer on fluids, Dexron, Dexron II and Dexron III are all GM spec fluids, the III supercedes II and I and is fully compatible with all previous versions. The Mercon is a Ford specified fluid and is compatible.
