I have put on a set of Torqu Thrust 2's that are 17x9.5 with a 5.5" backspace my problem is that even with a a 255 45 x 17 I still rub. I have measured and remeasured and I can narrow the rearend 1 inch without any clearence issures? Are there any issues anyone here can think of? I also forgot to ad I'm using Baer rear discs so I'm wondering if this is why I'm pushed out to the fender lips? Even with rolling the lips it will still rub. Will there be any issues with inside rubbing? I also forgot to say I'm running Hotchkiss rear springs with a 11/2" drop or is it 2"?
Thanks,
Mike

Have you 'rolled' the fender lips yet? If not, that pretty much has to be done.

Not to mention.......where are you getting the rub anyway? If it is only on the fender lip, you most likely havent rolled the lip yet or your housing maybe be out of another chassis, like that of a second Gen Camaro. Because it should not rub the fender lip with the wheel and tire that you have stated.

I only say this because I can fit a 275/40/17 on a 17x9.5 with 5.5" back space on my 67 without any problems......and the 69 is much more generous in wheel well than a 67 even with the same brake configuration.

It would be cheaper and easier to get another set of wheels with the right offset than to narrow your rear end 1 inch. Narrowing the rear end will require new axles and completely disassembling the rear end to have the ends cut off and welded back on. You are looking at around $600 at least.
