Hey all,

I'm in the process of bolting my car back together. I have changed subframes, and changed to big block with the correct ('68 big block) mounts. When I try to use my original frame side bracket, the holes in the replacement subframe for the bracket do not line up with the ones I have at all, let alone, make a bee line for the pivot ball... Could this be a subframe for a Pontiac or something?? Anyone ever hear of anything like this?

Or should I be thinking about a hydraulic TOB, here's the setup

stout 427, richmond 5 gear, 3.08, lakewood shield

Do the hydraulic units work good with stock swingsets (pedal linkage)
thanks

I fixed it, My new sub was missing a mounting hole for the bracket. I drilled and tapped and it's all lined up (more or less)

I had the same problem years ago.

The factory drilled the side bracket holes with the engine/trans installed in the frame. A bb is positioned slightly farther forward in the frame compared to a sb. So when swapping from one to the other the bracket will be incorrectly positioned and the Z-bar will mount at an angle causing clutch release problems. The problem will be aggravated if the frame or side bracket is '67 as for some reason that bracket had a different bolt pattern. I assume you are using a bb Z-bar which is about .625" longer than sb.

I would unbolt the bracket, line up the Z-bar perpendicular with the motor and drill new holes.
