Im having a problem with my clutch getting stiff when its driven for awhile.

The clutch is smooth and no binding when cold

When it gets hot it gets stiff, and feels like its binding up

It is a stock type diaphraghm type clutch

Adjust pedal free play when hot. Otherwise, probably the throwout bearing to bearing retainer interface, the piece the t/o bearing rides on.

could it be the pressure plate itself???
I removed the trans and looked at the bearing retainer and the throwout bearing moves smoothly.

but its kinda hard to check this cause by the time the trans is out its alreadly cooled off

Its definitely in the belhousing area
cause when i disconnect the push rod at the fork
its smooth

It feels like its binding when its hot and it makes it hard to take off

Very well could be the pressure plate.

If you can, try lubricating the area between the fork and bearing. It would be the two points where the fork touch the bearing. Moly grease and a long brush should work well. There have been noise/groaning issues with some bearing/fork combinations.

I would also suggest modifying your linkage with heim joints per this article on David Pozzi's pages.

I had a similar problem. I adjusted as much as I could; didn't help.

I got lucky and found a reputable trans shop. They lubed the Z bar correctly, and it turns out my linkage was slightly bent which also contributed to it binding up. This was my problem.

Good luck.
