View Full Version : Muncie HELP!!!!
mwc67 Oct 14th, 03, 02:47 PM I am looking and I mean looking for the speedo drive gear and speedo pinnion gear fo a 1965 M20. I have 3:73 rear gears. I have looked on Ebay and called every shop around and no one has them. Any help would be great. I don't want this sitting at the shop to long or it might get lost!!
Thanks, Matt.

oger Oct 14th, 03, 04:42 PM You need the drive and driven gear. The driven gear is available but the drive gear is the steel pressed on one. I don't know if you can find a new one but I bet a Muncie guy will have one laying around.
mwc67 Oct 14th, 03, 06:23 PM I can't find the drive gear. The one that was in there was nylon and both were worn out. If anyone out there has one please email me. I can get the other one as long as the drive gear will work for the 3:73 gear one.
Thanks, Matt.
chicane67 Oct 14th, 03, 08:19 PM Firstoff, a 65 Muncie wouldnt have a plastic drive gear. And if I remember correctly, the drive gear used is the same for all of the driven gears in the passenger car ratio's. Please let me know if different......
But you can get one (steel and/or plastic) from:
Four speeds by Darryl
Stick only
Jim Rupe
Liberty
I dont have their numbers here at work, but they are eaisly found on the net.

GDV350SS Oct 16th, 03, 08:00 AM mwc67,
I just replaced both my plastic drive and driven gears in my 69. Got both of them from Ed Hartnett Transmissions (610 623-9381) outside of Philadelphia. I've met with Ed personally a number of times and he's a really good guy. He also happens to be a "Bloomington Gold Certified Muncie Rebuilder." I know that Ed had the gears in stock when I got mine. You'll need the smaller diameter drive gear for the 24 tooth driven gear. That's pretty much the right set up for 3:73 gears and rear tires in the 26"-27" tall range.
Good luck! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
mwc67 Oct 17th, 03, 12:29 AM Thanks guys,
I found the stuff I needed at Sticks only. Was about $40 for both. I found a Muncie site online with the parts break down and it showed me what I needed and part #s to boot. Thanks again.
