I put a turbo 350 trans.in place of the glide in my 68.Is there something I can do to make the factory console shifter work correctly now.I have it working in all the gears but its a little tight between and Im afraid Im going to do something stupid like put It in reverse. Also do they still have 3.43 ratio. All I see is 3.55 now.Im not sure how much difference that will make compared to my 3.08 that I have now.I am installing a eaton 8.2 posi with it.Thanks for any help with this.

Go to www.shiftworks.com. (http://www.shiftworks.com.) They sell the correct brackets to make it work right. Your PG cable should work if it's in good shape.

Ditto on the Shiftworks kit. I used the Shiftworks kit on my PG to TH350 swap & it works good so far.
I did have some trouble with the shifter cable not moving the lever on the tranny at first, but it turned out to be an ajustment bolt on my console shifter was loose. Once I fixed that, everything worked good.

I went to a TH350 in my 67 & kept the 3.08 & installed the Eaton posi. It works great. Also put a 2000 holeshot converter in. What engune & cam are you running?

Have not driven it yet but in the final stages, but it is a hyd.roller cam 350 with a TCI 11 inch convertor. Not sure the specs on the cam but it is a couple of steps over stock and was bought through summit racing. With roller rockers and early style 186 heads angle milled to get the compression to 10.5 to 1.Has a factory high rise duel plane aluminum intake from a 302 and a 650 man.sec.double squirt.I hope it runs good.I haven't spared much change on it.You know what I mean.Glad your interested, talk to you later. smile.gif

67 Plum,
Did you just swap the 3.08 ring/pinion from a non-posi carrier onto the Eaton unit? Or did you get new gears with the Eaton?
Thanks...

2SLO4ME you might even want to go to 3.73 gears with that set up.JMO
HWYSTRJOE I used my same gears. I measured the backlash before taking it apart & set it back to what it was.I have put about 1000mi. on it since & all is well.

My history: Bought '68 RS 14 years ago that had a powerglide in it. Hated it. Took it to a local tranny shop and they put a TH350 with a shiftkit in it with no problems (same shifter, cable, crossmember, etc) Has run great.
Three years ago, took the car to a diff shop to evaluate my rear end. (insert jokes here if you care to) They told me I had nearly everything you DON'T want: the small 10 bolt carrier, 3.08 open gears, and one bad axle. I had them build me a new 12 bolt, with new axles, 3.42 gears, and an Auburn limited-slip. Not jaw-dropping, but a noticeable difference. Definitely a lot more fun around town.
To answer the original question, the gear you want is probably out there if you know where/from whom to get it. I'm also glad I got that particular gear because I now have a 700r4 (another long story) and with it's lower (taller?) first gear, a 3.73 would be too much. I'd be through first gear so fast, it would leave only one good gear left to do all the catching up. Hope any of this was helpful/entertaining. Ozzie
