I know that this isn't a Camaro, but my friend hasn't been able to find an answer and I was betting you guys could figure it out. The problem with the '87 Suzuki Samurai JX is that it will go in 4 low, but will get stuck in that gear and act like its in neutral after trying to put in 2wd or 4 high. Would would cause the transfer case to not switch into different gears?

Thanks
Jared

Not much info in your post.
When you say - 'stuck in that gear and act like it's in neutral' - do you mean the engine will rev. like the clutch is in or do you mean the trans/transfer are stuck in the "low range" ???

Just as general info, most manual transfer cases will "lock" the driveline front and rear when in 4-Low (and some in 4-High) not allowing any 'differencial' action between the front and rear wheels - if there is no slippage between the tires and the ground, the driveline will "Wind-up" and the transfer case will become locked in gear (you may also notice some rocking or bucking of the vehicle if on solid pavement) - just back-up the vehicle a short distance to relieve the 'wind-up' and the transfer will come right out of gear.
