Finally got my conversion done!!!!!! 4 speed all the way!!!

One problem....... the trans leaks
I replaced all the seals and gaskets

I seem to have a leak near front of trans (front bearing retainer is new) and a leak at the output shaft

I replaced the output shaft seal again.....and it is still leaking

I might have too much fluid in it, because i was on 2 jack stands, instead of 4, so i had a huge incline on the car i put apprx 4 pints in till it dribbled out of the filler hole.....

it is near impossible to get it level and check the level of the fluid

before i take the trans out, i want to make sure i dont have too much fluid in it

anybody know how much it should take ????
Thanks again

If your tranny is bone dry, it should take 3 pints. Don't forget to subtract for any additive used

Got the car level then pulled the fill plug.
fluid is about 1/2" to 1" from the hole

it is still leaking.....

what could be causing this???

I checked the yoke for excessive movement and seems to be ok..

ANy ideas?

when i built my muncie I used a how to video from 5speeds.com. the guy on the video said that you have to RTV the hell out of everything to get it not to leak. the reason the front leaks is because the bolts that hold the bearing retainer to the case tape in to the case all the way. if they are not sealed they can slowly leak. and I also had to beat a metal plug in the front of my auto gear case where the counter shaft stops.

I hope its not leaking at the front bearing retainer..... I really dont look forward to taking the tranny out again......especially how fun it is to drive! The Tailshaft leak it the biggest leak and that is top priority to fix.

Then if need be i will pull the trans and see exactly where the trans is leaking

Is it common for Muncies to leak?????

Should i pull it all apart and use some RIGHT STUFF sealant instead of the gaskets?

i used it on the side cover, and not a drop of fluid

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
