I have looked all over this auto tranny and here's what I found. I don't know if this is everything needed to tell me what this tranny is or what it's out of, if not tell me and I'll look some more.

Top of bellhousing in big numbers and letters it has C 3. This is welded on(or at least to me it looks like it)not stamped or cast.

On pass side of bellhousing where the part that runs at a 45 degree angle it had 151186589 stamped.

Drivers side of bellhousing it had a circle divided into three sections(like a pie) one section had a 10, one section had 3-75.

On pass side of tranny above the dipstick hole it had 338999.

Thanks.

On the passenger side of the car , look on the vertical face of the trans. You almost have to look at a perfect angle because this section of the trans is up in the tunnel. Get a good light..there should be a a roughly 2" x 3" plate with what looks like a single rivet right in the center with the trans info on it.

OK, let's try this. Get on the web and hunt up a tranny pan chart.

I had to do this to I.D. a TH-200 b/c I had never seen one and my friend said it was a real good tranny, not...

Seem's it was out of a Second Gen. V-8 'Bird...

Plus to I.D. the 340 MOPAR 727 tranny I have..

How many forward speeds or gears does it have?
Two forward gears = Powerglide with kickdown linkage on driver side and with the name POWERGLIDE cast into the top of the trans case.
Three forward gears = TH350 with a cable on pass side, TH400 with no linkage or cable.
Four forward gears = TH700-R4 with cable on pass side.

Does it have a square oil pan? = Powerglide.
Does it have a square pan with a notch cut out of the corner, ie, 5 sided pan? = TH350.
Does the oil pan look like a trapizoid? = TH400.
Does the oil pan look long, ie, about 15-17 inches, in length? TH700-R4.

The tranny is a TH 350. I was wondering how to tell when it was built and what it was out of, if possible.

On the passenger side of the TH350 pan..... the manufacturing plant and date code will be stamped in. If it's the original pan that is. There's no telling what it came out of.

It'll look something like: B5K02D
B- Cleveland
5- 1974 model year
K- July
02- 2nd day
D- Day shift

I will look on the pan tomorrow for the numbers.

The #'s on pass side of bellhousing where the part that runs at a 45 degree angle it had 151186589 stamped would that be a partial VIN#?
