Went to fit my energy suspension poly bush's the weekend in hope to cure the terrible handing & wheelspin (2.41 no posi) my 78 has suffered, upon removing the passenger side multileaf found the bottom leaf shatterred & top leaf cracked 3/4 way across i found this most worrying as i had every intention of trying the performance of recent 355 build out. Had the leaf fully broken thier would of been nothing else to of kept axle attached !
New springs seem to be ethier pure drag race softe's or quite expensive i.e hotchkis $269 plus carrage & import duty this would still leave me with a open 2.41, no panard rod, anti-roll bar or traction bars either. I can buy a secondhand 3.08 or 3.36 posi for about $330 from a dismantler not sure what condition would be ?
My cheap and hopefully effective solution :- fit the entire idependent rear suspension from a jaguar xjs V12 Advantages :- cost £100/150 ($165/$250), availabilty, ratio 2.88:1 or 3.07:1, locking diff as standard very low unsprung weight, inboard disk brakes, same wheel stud pattern (apparently), and of course independent.
Disavantages :- fabrication required, propshaft adaptor, 2 or 3 inch narrower. good idea or dumb ?

Aren't they kinda weak for a Chevy v8's torque?

I originally thought that to, orench but read about a coddington/image 427 (well modified 650 lbs plus) powerred cobra (kit car magazine) also they are popular over here in drag racing & V8 powerred customs.
