Jim be carefull driving in Illinois, New state law as of 1/1/04 Can not drive in left lane for more than 1/2 mile not sure how they will inforce it but they will find a way somehow. Also Donna said today plenty of bad FOG in the outter Rockford area. If your going through Rockford dont worry about stopping and seeing her but Freeport on the other hand is right at home. Just really wanted to let you know that Help is only a phone call away in that area should you need it!!!

That looks like a sweet car Jim. Sue will really like it, it is for her, right? ;)

Jeff, what do you mean left lane for only 1/2 mile? How do you do that?
I agree, can't be enforced. graemlins/sad.gif

I agree it would be very hard to enforce, and thats an X-Cop talking. Here are some other new Illinois laws along with the 1/2 mile one.
--------------------------

Several new laws going into effect in 2004 will affect Illinois' drivers. According to Secretary of State Jesse White's office, some of the laws will:

- Restrict left lane use: Drivers who stay in the left lane on multi-lane highways for more than one-half mile could get a $75 ticket.

- Limit passengers for young drivers: For the first six months after they are licensed, drivers under the age of 18 may not have more than one non-family passenger under the age of 20 in a car. The fine is $75.

- Toughen work zone penalties: Convictions for reckless homicide in a construction or maintenance zone will carry Class 2 felony penalties. Those include three to 14 years in prison. If more than one person dies in such an accident, the prison time goes up to six to 28 years.
------------------------------

The second one really puts a damper on double dating huh, Do kids even do that anymore, I must be getting old

cant believe my luck, nice ride down here today but now getting up to 10 inches of snow crapppppp winter storm warnings and all, thought I drove 600 miles south of Minn graemlins/clonk.gif
will be fun in 4wheel drive charging into the sellers driveway at noon on sunday. lol
just glad this hotel had hi speed internet in the room and only $50 , the darn thing plugs into the 110 volt AC power plug at the desk then ethernet cable from a little black box to the laptop. amazing never saw this set up before, running on 110v line.

Jim - is that $50 a night for the internet connection or the room? ;) LOL... The places I stay at for work get $5.00 for 10 minutes for a high speed connection or use of a PC in their mini datacenters...

Good luck with the car and keep your head in the game. It's easy to let little things slide after making a long trip in order to help make the trip a success. You're actually more successful coming home empty handed than with a questionable car... I hope it's all you're after and the price is right orrrr, within reason anyway!!

It's 9:36 your time, an old man, a good looking young wife and a hotel with no kids!! My guess is you won't see this tonight. ;)

careful pal, my buddy was pulled over on I-70 for extended driving in the left lane and while getting a ticket the trooper's car (crown vic) was rear ended ,and a big fire. So in Missouri they do enforce it- as the right lanes are in need of repair, everyone was sitting on cruise in the left lanes.
good luck with the car, looks like great potential.

Ok here's the scoop...
trudged thru 6" of wet sloppy new snow to sellers father in laws garage where the door spring let go the day before but missed the camaro... anyway, the wheel moulding chrome trim is missing all the way around, 3 of the 4 headlight washer nozzels are gone and no hoses. Solenoid is in place. It was converted to dual exhause with old red thrush type but it started right up and sounded great. Pass. door has hinge sag and doest close even up to the rear quarter. Driver seat is torn, needs to be redone, others are ok but do you do them all in my mind.
very little rust inside trunk area. cocktail shakers are all there. front Pass. side shaker is rusted on one bolt leg pretty bad, top is in good condiition. previous owner had 2nd rust proofing done, they shot inside the hood crevices, the whole underside, gooie but its there. Floor pans are very good solid as is trunk. Jack and base and endura fitting are all there. both rear quarters were replaced by previous owner, not a bad fit but guess thats when the chrome wheel trim was lost. Original wheels and wheel covers are in the deal, along with ralleyes and rings that are on it now.
all in all pretty good condition but not all original. He is asking $22000 so I figured new exhaust, trim, door hinges, nozzels, interior including new carpet, seat covers etc and lots of tlc , I offered $18000 , he said maybe $21,000 but no less or it goes on ebay.
He is getting married next year so not in a hurry for the money. He had it appraised at a classic corvette dealer for the $22000. He will probably get in on ebay in the spring.
The idea of a 2 wheel dolly trailer dragging this car in a snow storm back to Minn wasnt my idea of fun either.
So, its a no go but a good experience. Now the road home on Monday will be horrible with all these locals trying to drive in snow.
Im putting the Tahoe in 4wh drive and pedal to the metal. Thanks for the encouragement guys, its not meant to be this time.

Jim, sounds like a very god solid move on leaving it behind. He may very well get that kindof $$ on ebay but it will not be much over that if it reaches there. When it only goes for 16K and he calls you back, tell hime 16.5 or repost it.

Drive safe, my sis said the Northern part of the state is looking at another 6" tonight and early morning.
