Did a search and didn't come up with much so I'll ask.

I heard some people say that the 19 x 26 is the best size universal griffin aluminum radiator to buy... what else should i know before changing over? Will my fan shroud still work? Will I need to run an electric fan?

My radiator has started to crack in one spot and the thing has never been cleaned so my engine is running hot. I figure that since I plan on modifying the engine anyway, might as well just go to the aluminum now and save myself some trouble later on but I'd like to know what to expect since a lot of you have already done all of this.

You can fit a larger size if you move your battery to the trunk, but that's the one I have.

You'll need to make custom mounts, and you might be able to use your shroud, but you might neet to modify it, and figure out a way to attach it. The upper radiator hose will work, but the lower one will need some tweaking to make it work.

I bought dual LS1 elec. fans off ebay and trimmed the shroud to fit it to the radiator.

Part number 125222. The mounts are pretty easy to make, just dont blow a hole into the tank when you weld'em up!

The only problem with running a core larger than that of 26x19 is that the core cupport blocks the available air to that protion of the radiator. This really isnt a bad thing, but it does you nothing unless the core is exposed to air flow.

Any other recommendation would be to add the 'billet' water neck filler. After taking the cap on and off a few times, like us hotrodders are known for, it will prove its worth.

I put in an aluminum radiator (Summit generic brand) and I believe it was 25.75 x 19''. Fit well and making some mounts for it was easy. I had to modify the fan shroud a bit to get it to fit as well. There are some pics on my website under the "summer 2002" section around page 16 or later...

I say go with the electric fan (and no belt driver fan) and 19x26 radiator. I use that set up with a "daily" driver with A/C and about 350hp. My fan has a built in shroud so there is no modifications to make, just hang it with the included hardware and drive it. Just make sure you get a fan with enough cfm output if you decide to go this route.
