I want to put a coolant recovery system on my 69 camaro, one that recycles the coolant back into the radiator. Right now I have the hose spilling antifreeze straight onto the ground. The car runs fine, but on those hot summer days I don't want my car puking its coolant on the street. Does anyone have any suggestions on what system to use? Should I get on off 70 something camaro? I've seen some aftermarket recovery tanks in summit, but don't know which will work better. Looks are somewhat important, but I don't want to spend a boat load of cash on this either. Also where would you mount the tank? Any suggestions? Thanks

I never used my windsheild washer, so I converted the tank into a coolant recovery tank. It was a simple mod and looks clean, much better than aftermarket systems I have seen. Just a suggestion...

I have one that looks almost like the window wiper tub, its a new white (clear) plastic unit, black lid, fluid runs from radiator into it, then it also has a recirculating ability so it can suck back into the radiator as needed. Guy put it on the 69 Camaro I bought a few weeks ago so not sure where he got it. He mounted it just in front of the radiator, you know in that cavity between the radiator wall and the front grill, fits very well and the metal bracket is held in by two sheet metal screws. Summit has a system for $14.50 but didn't say recirc, Jegs has a recirc one for $16.50, I am sure the local auto store will have something similiar to what I have.

I was thinking about placing a recovery tank there, but I wasn't sure if you could see it through the grill. Can you see the tank through the grill? I'm going to check with the local auto parts stores, but I don't think they will be much help. I've lost confidence with most of the local parts stores. It seems as though every store I go to will ask what year car and say the same thing, "They don't make one for a 69 Camaro." I'll try a few more, and hopefully I'll get lucky. If no luck, I'll order one through Jegs or Summit. Thanks for the info.

I also am going to install a 'burp' tank. I went to salvage yard and for $5 got a narrow windshield washer tank off some other car that can slip behind the battery to the side in the fender cavity where it cant be seen and does not interfer with air flow thru the radiator. Its not installed yet so no pics but I set it in there this winter for sizing and it fits nicely, 2 screws attach it to the side of the radiator support. I just hope it works. Ive also read other ideas in here over the years. Try a search on it too. Might get more ideas.

I actually use my W/S washer, so using that bottle wasn't an option for me. I bought the bottle and mounting brackets for a '69 RS washer bottle. The RS bottle mounts on the passenger side fenderwell right beside the battery.

I took a piece of aluminium, bent it to fit around an 1 litre oil jug, Mounted it at the lower rad bolt, tucks in down low and out of sight, below the battery and beside the radiator.
Run the over flow hose into the jug, put a round rad cap on and it does the suck and fill job right on.
