Does anyone know anything about Afco radiators?I'm looking around for an aluminum radiator for my '68 and a friend of mine is offering me a deal on one. Are they of the same quality as Griffin etc?

Don't really know anything about AFCO radiators per se. I know that they make drag racing radiators and double pass radiators.

I can give you some specifications and ideas to guide you tho.

1. No plastic tanks or epoxy set tubes, heli-arc welded tubes to tanks only.
2. NO DOUBLE PASS radiators (they cut the pressure and flow and therefore reduce efficiency of the system tremendously).
3. You want at least a double row 1" (or more) tube design crossflow.
4. Internal baffling is a must.

I have recommended over 250 people to PRC radiators at PRC Custom Crossflow Radiators (http://www.streetrodstuff.com/Products/157) and nary a complaint. They make radiators with all of the above and are high quality, great looks, custom built to your specifications and less than $350!

Thanks Steve. I've looked at the PRC products already and they do look good. This friend of mine is a mechanic and just about to get a business account with Afco. He mentioned their radiators as an option and I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with them. So far I've not been able to find out much of the kind of info you listed.

What fan setup are you using if the photo there BTW?

Andy, I built the fan shroud, it incorporates the radiator mount, fan shroud, and fan mounts in one unit. I actually used a wider than stock radiator (19" * 31") because my battery is relocated. This allowed me to use larger fans. The fans are salvage yard finds, I believe the large one is out of an early 90`s Buick Park Avenue and the small one is out of an early 90`s Skylark with a 3.1 L. I only have about $250 in the radiator, fans, and materials for the shroud, but it took about 30 hours to fabricate it. Afco has two lines of radiators. They have the correct size for a camaro which is 19" * 27 1/2". Their performance radiators have side brackets welded on to make it easier to mount to the radiator support for $300. The racing radiators are the same without side brackets for $180. Here`s the link to their radiator page. Brent

I'd already found that page but they don't give any information about the size of the tubing or how many rows are used. I noticed that the Street Rod radiator for Camaros is $449 but the 27 1/2" Gm Performance model is $299 but they don't really explain what the difference is.

I installed an Afco radiator in my 68RS. I got my from Racemart (http://www.randys-racemart.com/26chevalrad.html) . It is 26 X 19. I had a buddy weld some brackets on it. I installed it, then had a problem fitting a lower hose since the outlet is pointing upwards. I sawed it off and had it welded on straight. I ended up using a stock upper hose from a 68 and a stock lower hose from a 69 since I have a long water pump, they fit great. I also use the stock shoud for a small block wit A/C. I really like it.
