Anyone have a donor list or a good source for a new idle compensator? I found one in a parts catalog for $89! That's a bit steep for a solenoid. :eek:

Randy;
I take it this is for a Rochester?
For OEM type try looking on late 60's ~ early 70's small block 4bl. pick-ups with standard trans and/or A/C. These commonly had the Idle solenoid you are looking for.
The CA. emission cars out here had them alot also and they are available new from several parts sources such as NAPA.
Edelbrock has a kit - part #8509.
Haven't paid $90- for one yet :eek:

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for. Summit, #8059 (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL%2D8059). Ouch, still $79. graemlins/sad.gif Think I'll hit the salvage yard on a day off.

In case anyone else is on the hunt....
I purchased one from a salvage yard out of an '82 GM pickup for $8. I later determined that AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts both sell replacement solenoids.
Idle stop solenoid for a 1980 Camaro:
WELLS #440 from AutoZone - $18.99 3 Mo Warranty
GP Sorensen #7791973 from Advance - $18.49 12 Mo Warranty
