I was wanting to put headers on my 68 Camaro but will require me to remove the compressor. Will it hurt the compressor to let it sit? What is the best thing to do to plug up the A/C system if I do remove the compressor and all those things?

Is the system charged now?
If so, just unbolt the compressor, leave the lines on, and tie it up out of the way.
If it's empty of Freon, remove it and just be careful not to spill the oil out of the ports on the back.
If removed or empty, the system will have to be evacuated, which also removes moisture from the system.

Right now it's operational. I do not know when it was last recharged, since I just bought the car in November. Bout the only thing I can tell you is it has been converted to the R134a system. Thanks for all your help.
