I installed a TPI system in my '68 camaro.I have a problem with keeping it cool.I have a 14" electric fan that I think wasn't comming on soon enough.I direct wired the fan and it seemed to run cooler. Can I take out the t-stat to help it cool better?

Thermostats do not effect the cooling of your system one ioda! They simply provide for operational range and the absense of one can induce laminar flow issues into the radiator! So, don't go there.

You can change to a cooler one to see if that will give you more time to react to the overheating issues. I am assuming that this is an idling and slow speed issue. If so, it's an airflow problem moreover.

A 14" fan is not going to be enough to keep your car cool. A high quality 16" Spal fan will be more.

Give us more details about your situation and maybe we can suggest exacting solutions.
