Most of the components of my a/c are missing from my 67.Is there a later year that parts will work from? (Is it possible to eliminate the POA valve etc with one from a later system?) Want to keep the firewall box, so no Vintage Air, etc.

Thanks,
Virgil

I am installing all new parts into my 68, and I talked with my local AC shop about it. They told me they can make the crimped AC lines instead of the original clamped on AC lines, and weld on the ends to the condensor. Another thing they suggested to use is the 69 heater core shut off valve for better evaporator efficiency. The shop also mentioned about removing the POA valve and using a cycling valve instead. He said he's done it dozens of times and works great. He seems to think R12 will be colder than R134a. I've heard people using both types with great results. One of the things I'm going to do with my car is to install a Big Block box on the outside of the firewall. This will give me more room away from the block. Also there is a company, I think they are called Koolmat, that sell this stick-on heat shielding. I plan on getting a piece to stick on the outside AC box on the side closes to the engine. This should help keep the evaporator cool. Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

68 Camaro,
Thanks, this is what I was looking for. I have modified my inner a/c box already, as when I got the car, someone had already stuffed a big block into it and broke a big chunk out of the box.
If you have a parts list or anything, I would like to have a copy, as I need everything from the box forward.
Thanks,
Virgil

I'm not real proficient in AC so you could call my AC shop directly and ask them about first generation Camaro AC. I talked with James at Van's Air Conditioning and the number is 321-254-7521. They would probably give you the parts listing you are looking for over the phone.
