I just recently purchased a aluminum radiator for my 67 camaro and I have a question about a external transmission cooler I have on my existing radiator. Should I keep the external trans cooler with the new aluminum radiator? The trans cooler is currently mounted with straps that run through my stock radiator and I dont want to mount it to my new aluminum like this. Any suggestions on if I need the external cooler, and if I should keep it how I should properly mount it?

I had the same dilemma. I ended up mounting my trans cooler in front of the radiator by fabricating some brackets. I made them out of some galvanized steel "L" bracket stock that you can get at the local hardware store. It is the kind of stuff you use to make shelves and such...

Anyway, I cut and bent a few pieces until I was able to mount the brackets to the core support and hold the trans cooler in front of the radiator without having to bend up the cooling fins for those straps that I would have had to use otherwise to mount the cooler to the radiator.
