I did a search and came up with tons of information, but I still have a couple of questions. I want to run the LS1 fan set up on my stock replacement BB w/air radiator. What do you guys think? I also want a nice high flow water pump, this is what I want the most input on. Which water pumps do you suggest? Is there a stock replacement pump from some other year that is really good? What about the aftermarket pumps? I'm cheap and poor, so budget is always a consideration! Thanks.

I don't know anything about the LS1 fan, but if it doesn't pull at least 20 amps plus it won't suffice even if it's the best shroud and blade design on earth. I would op for the MarkVIII fan about 150 bucks.....best airmover there is and you will need it with the BB and air.
I have a mechanical fan (Derale 17XXX heavy duty series) on my 400+hp small block with air and it does just fine in 100 degree temperatures in hotAtlanta traffic.
I would look at the TuffStuff or Stewarts high flow water pumps. Both great quality and very reasonable pricing.

Thanks for the reply. I actually only run a mild small block, but I have the BB w/air radiator. The LS1 set up pulls about 30 amps from what I understand. I may go with the Mark VIII fan set up. Thanks for the recommendation on waterpumps.

I would be anxious to learn more on the LS1 fan if you can report back. Certainly if you have a small block and a larger BB radiator the LS1 sounds like a fit. 30amps will take an upgrade of the alternator if you are not running at least a 100 amp model. And use 70amp relays for the fan, not 30s or 40amp models. Trust me, you will thank me later. I would look to Newark Electronics (www.newark.com) for Tyco 70 automotive relays.

Thanks! This will be my first time setting something up with relays, but I'm convinced that's the way to do it. I will try to find the thread that gave more particulars on the LS1 set up, but I believe it flows ~2300 CFM? I figured if it can keep an LS1 with air cool, I should be fine. My car runs cool with the current set up which is a cheap flex fan, short pump and shroud. I plan to install a 100 Amp one wire alternator. I will also inspect the rest of my wiring to make sure it's up to snuff. Thanks again.
