sixd8rs Jan 19th, 04, 02:21 PM Anyone installed one of these yet? How do you like it?
I have ordered a VA Front Runner kit and Gen II compact system with the Streamline control. Really looking forward to the installation and would like any heads up info.

crowenate Feb 14th, 04, 01:12 PM Man I wish I new you was ordering all that I could have saved you some money. If any of the rest of you wants a front runner and or air unit let me know I know I can beat any price you get.
sixd8rs Feb 15th, 04, 04:56 AM I didnt buy direct thru VA. There price was much higher than buying from a supplier, Campbells Vintage auto. I have some friends interested in getting this also. Sent you an e-mail.
prostreet69camaro Feb 15th, 04, 07:49 AM I installed a kit on a friends 69 small block car. There is one issue I dont like about the kit. The heater hose that fits on the water pump is a b*tch to get on and line up with the mounting bracket. Plus it only excepts the small head hose clamps. Make sure you put this hose on before you put the mounting bracket on. If not you will be pulling it all apart. They show using a AN fitting for the heater hose and it probably fits better but is more money than a clamp. Another thing is the water pump pulley started removing the chrome on it after a little run time. Vintage Air did replace it for free. Also the Powermaster alternator had a bad humming at idle and was messing with the Autometer tach which took a while to figure out.
Sorry I said only one issue but the other 2 were minor issues.
I am buying another kit for the 502 ramjet that is going in a 69 pro-touring car.
prostreet69camaro Feb 15th, 04, 07:52 AM Something else I forgot to mention. If that heater hose leaks you will have to pull it apart to replace the clamp and hose. That would not be fun on the side of the road. Overall I like the kit.
crowenate Feb 15th, 04, 09:22 AM prostreet youve got mail.
sixd8rs Feb 15th, 04, 10:14 AM Thanks for the info Pro. I will be using that AN fitting for the water pump. Its a 45* $32. I have heard about the trouble with it. I feel same about the side of the road situation. Even the water pump is machined for the bushings. Wont find one at any auto parts store. I will be getting towed for sure. I have been thinking about getting a spare incase of emergency. VA stoped using the Power Master alts. They are now using Tuff Stuff. So far, everything is going well. Not running yet but install is going well.
Kiko Feb 15th, 04, 07:15 PM I have a frontrunner installed in my 67 with a 406'. Just fired the engine again last week after I fixed the stud leaking problem. I used the good old Indian Head sealant and it worked great. I didn;t have a problem with the heater outlet ;cause I plugged it. I don't think I need the heater here in Hawaii. I have some pictures but have to figure out how to post it.
Aloha, Frank.
sixd8rs Feb 16th, 04, 12:50 PM Send me a pic and I'll post it.
Richz68 Sep 6th, 05, 08:14 PM I know this is an old posting, but I thought I would mention that there is now an alternative to the Vintage Air Frontrunner and the Billet Specialties Tru-Trac that is MUCH less expensive.
