I have decided to replace my leaky 2-core 21" radiator with a 4-core 23" unit designed for a big block in order to enhance my car’s cooling capabilities. My stock upper hose will obviously not work any longer because the radiator inlet will be 2" further to the right and probably about an inch closer to the block. Anyone know if the hose for the big block would fit small block? (In other words, are the bb and sb upper radiator hose outlets in about the same place on the block?) Or would a hose for a sbc with a/c or the HD cooling RPO be a better fit?

Hose from a 69 small block with A/C will work just fine. They had 23" wide radiators. The number of cores does not affect the position of the radiator neck in relation to the engine. It's in the tank which only came in one width for raditors with 2 to 4 cores.

Gunner,
There is a small-block 23" hose that is available through NAPA. It's a re-labled Gates product.
If interested, I will likely be selling a 4-row US Radiator Desert Cooler radiator (23.5"), GM shroud, GM fan, and thermostatic clutch. If interested send me an email.
