My car has a tendency to overheat when idling, and I know it's from the shroud not fitting around the fan very good. I don't know what the owner before did, but it looks like a butchered job. The car also was originally a 6cyl, but a pontiac 350 was installed with a 3 core rad before I bought it. So, should I just get a stock replacement, would this work? I don't want to pour too much money into this car yet, as I can only really drive it 3 months of the year, thanks.
Oh...and what fan came with these cars? It currently has a 5-blade fan, not sure what diameter, though.

Make sure your fan is half way in and half way out of your shroud otherwise it might not be drawing enough air through the radiator. If your shroud is really messed up, I would get a new one. Classic Industries or Ricks sell them for $50. Also before you buy/replace the shroud, I would flush the coolant and change the T stat. A 5 blade fan should be fine, but if you still overheat after changing the coolant, t stat and shroud I would upgrade to a 17 or 18 inch 6 blade fan.
I recently changed the thermostat and coolant already, I'll check where the fan sits in relation to the shroud tomorrow, thanks.

Also, I know this is going to sound really basic, but make sure the fan is drawing air thru the radiator and into the engine compartment, not pushing air thru to the front. And make sure ther is nothing blocking the airflow. And check your idle speed.
Well, it has a tranny cooler that I can't really relocate, there is some band added to the shroud, so I'll remove that, otherwise, it should sit about where it should. And it does blow air in the proper direction. Thanks!
