Do you guys have preferences on brands of aluminum radiators?? I have been told to stay away from griffin radiators and any others that are held together with "epoxy." So I was wondering what your input is.....

$378 and you can get a custom built PRC radiator that fits like a glove, people on this board who have them love them. I'll be ordering mine soon.

Hey guys, I used an Alumn BeCool 2 row and a Spal dual electric fan on my pro street '68 with a BB 454 and had no overheating at all. I could idle in traffic for hours with no problem. I had to do that getting into Super Chevy in Indianapolis!
Check out my home page to see how I mounted the rad and fan. Take care, Jeff

If you want to go cheap, try Northern radiator that Summit sells under their house brand generic type.

I have one that I'm going to install once my big engine is in my car.

Pdq, what are you doing about attaching brackets to that radiator to mount it to the radiator support?

I just bought the aluminum radiator that classic industries sells for first gen camaros. It is really nice. It has 2 rows of 1 inch tubes and is welded with no epoxy. It also has OEM type mounting brackets so it will fit like the orignals did. It lists for $370 in the catalog but I got it for way less using the 20% off discount that ends this month.

Justin, you have a Classic part #??? I went to their website and scanned for radiator and found no 2 row aluminum radiators... Appreciate the part #s if you can. Thanks

Thanks for posting the part #, called them up,
10870ALM is $369 and 20% discount will work on it!! ($295!!!)

But does it have an Automatic Transmission cooler built into it? They couldn't tell me over the phone... Really limited on space right now with this new Vintage Air condenser and dryer mounted on the radiator support so I'd like to avoid an external cooler if possible.

Found it in their catalog (not listed on their site), DOES NOT come with a tranny cooler and requires modification to fit the stock shroud. Darn! I just don't feel comfortable trying to mount that tranny cooler safely in front of the condenser, let alone it not being as clean as going directly into the radiator. Don't need super high end cooling, will be running 200-4R in the future with lockup converter so it won't generate much heat.

I dumped my auto for a muncie. I was looking at the fins on the radiator and it is going to be tight if I plan on mounting an eletric fan. There are holes on the top and bottom where I can mount an X shaped bracket to each corner of the fan. Give me a few minutes and I can snap some pictures.

Whatever you purchase, single-passes work best and/or are more efficient. Also go for the largest tubes with the most fins. Not all radiators are created equal.

I have recommended custom radiators from PRC for three years with well over 200 sold and nary a complaint? NO, I don't work there or get a commission.

I went with PRC. I had the radiator in under 3 weeks and it was built to custom specs. They gave me a detail to start with. I did a little measuring, and tweaked it a bit. They also have a very nice fan mounting system.

I ordered my PRC a couple of weeks ago. The guys at streetrodstuff.com are great. Dick sent a detailed cad drawing, I measured and made some changes and he updated the drawing the same day. Has been a great experiance.

I have a Becool 2 row, with a crappy junkyard fan from a 78 camaro, on a clutch. Stays steady at 190 no matter what.
