When should I worry about the temp on a 406 small block? 200 around town still ok?
I have a 3 core radiator with a 160 thermostat.
It also has a fan shroud with a flex fan. My friend said to put a 195 t-stat in it. What do you think?

200* around town is a bit warmer than I'd like to see on a vintage engine, but not a big deal - does it cool down on the highway? I'd put a 180* thermostat in it next time you have it down, although that won't affect normal operating temperature - thermostats only control MINIMUM operating temperature, like in the winter, so you get heat from the heater.
Step #1 is to take an I.R. gun "shot" of the thermostat housing and compare that with the gauge reading at the same time so you know what the gauge is really telling you - it may not be running warm at all. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
