Hi I have a 1988 trans am with a 305 TBI, I know its not a Camaro, but its basically the same thing. I was wondering if you guys know the normal operating temperature of this engine. Also when should the single electric fan turn on to the cool the motor, mine runs at 220 and still does not turn on. Only when the the a/c is set on max, is when it turns on. I have changed the sending unit on the intake manifold next to the water outlet. It has two wires going to it. I was wondering if there are any other sensors, and if so where are they loacted. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Vinny

I had an 86 Iroc when I got it, it ran 220 scared me to death,I wasnt used to the late models(I owned it in 87)I called the dealer where I bought it and confirmed that it is supposed to run 220.The electric fans will always come on with the A/C. If I remember the thermo fan swith cuts the fan on around 225-235 maybe 240.My relay went out once and I blew one of the plastic tanks slap off the radiator, when that happend I put a larger rad in it and went to a 180 thermostat and wired the fans through a relay and to switched power never had any more problems.

The fan temperature sensor/switch is in the passenger side head between cylinders 6 & 8. The other one is the temperature sensor for the ECM.
The fan on temperature is quite high, something like 238 F. A '87 GN fan sensor/switch comes on at a lower temperature.
