I'm confused. I've read thru all the threads on this and have gotten fan thickness dimenstions from 4-1/2" to over 5".I bought fan of a 93 Taurus and it is almost 6" from front of shroud to back of motor and it looks different than the photos I've seen of other fans. Looks like the motor attaches different to the shroud. Did I get something unusual or just wrong? I'm having a hard time making this one fit because of the thickness, so any one closer to 4" would be a god-send. Does the thickness change with the years, or should they be all the same? Thanks again. graemlins/clonk.gif

There are more then 1 taurus fan. The ideal preferred 2 speed electric fan is from a 3.8 liter V6 engine used from mid 80's to about 95 in taurus and sables.
I am at work so don't have access to the demensions.
I had run into a website that had the demensions, but can't seem to find it now.
Here is a link that has some good photos, is yours the same as this one?

Thanks wayner, no on mine the motor sticks out further, these look more recessed. Somebody at work told me that the motor for the 4 cylinder sticks out further, so I'm thinking that is what they gave me even though I asked for the 3.8 litre.

If your having a problem with width between the rad and w\p you may want to look at getting a setup out of a 96 or so Dodge caravan.. Correct me if I'm wrong guys but I believe it is a 2 speed twin fan setup that is about 3.5 inches deep and about 13" wide..

Do you think it would cool as well as the Taurus?

I have a friend of mine who has a BB 69' with one installed and he has no cooling problems at all.. I'm not sure what pump he has but it is a serpentine setup..
I went on a hunt to find one at my local salvage yard and it was like trying to find gold.. After I got to the 5th yard I asked why were they so hard to find and he told me because of the amount of air that they push for their size.. (I'm assuming a lot of guys are using them for the custom rods)
I've resulted to changing my mounts to stock (to raise the engine so the stock shroud will fit) and just stick with the stock setup.. (at least for now)

I will try and get over to his house this weekend and take a pic or two for you..

Thanks, Joe.
