I,m Having trouble getting my fan motor to work.
I tested the fan out of the car and it worked fine. I put a new wiring harness that included the fan motor and installed a new fan switch. I think my car originally had air. I have 2 plugs on the switch the top plug has juice to a grey wire and the bottom plug has none. The resistor plug on top of the heater box also has juice to it but the the fan will not operate.
Please help
George

lower tang on the motor is a ground since the a/c suitcase is fiberglass. heater boxes alone are steel and ground thru them to the firewall.

feed wire to blower motor should be a 14 gauge orange wire.

i do not see any grey wires listed under the hood for a 69.

a little more info such as make, model, year, a/c, etc. would be very helpful.

The blower motor wire is orange. The grey wire is on the top plug of the heater switch. The ground wire I ran right to the battery. There is a pipe coming thru the fire wall below the heater hoses and the temp control has a max cold bar. I bought the car as a 69 Z/28 it has the right block and intake but its a early 69 August before they had the X33 code, but I have my doubts it could be a clone.

o.k. let's back up a little.

1) does your car have factory a/c now?? is there an a/c suitcase under the hood? and do you have a center dash a/c vent?

2) is there a large wire bundle coming out of the firewall right by the passenger valve cover?

3) this new wire harness you got is it a factory harness or reproduction of a factory harness, and which harness is it?

the only gray wires under the dash i know of are 20 gauge dash light feeds. you will melt it running it to the fan. the fan takes a 14 ga. orange wire for non a/c and a 12 ga. purple wire for a/c.

there is no gray wire going to either the a/c or non a/c fan switch on 69's.

My car does not have AC now.
There is no large group of wires coming out of the fire wall on the passenger side.
The wiring harness is a reproduction of the factory harness.
There are 2 plugs on the side of the heater switch. The top plug is 3 connectors straight across. There is a gray wire that is hot on that plug. The 2nd plug below the first has a orange wire to that but nothing on that plug is hot.
But the resistor plug on top of the heater box is hot.

Let me clear up the only harness I changed is the one in the engine compartment that goes to the wipers, starter, and heater. the wiring under the dash is original I think.

i don't see a straight plug on the heater switch listed in the 69 assembly manual neither a/c nor without.

can you take a picture of the plug and email it to me?
