Ok, the only convertible forum is an archive so it can't be posted to.

Has anyone else had a heck of a time installing cocktail shakers to their convertible that was missing them??

My 69 convert. only had 1 bolt holding the front left cocktail shaker when I got it. I thought it would not big deal to bolt it completely in. WRONG, the thing must of bent and altered it's relationship to the bracket because it was a PAIN to line up. I had to trial fit and then beat with a hammer to get it to line up.

WHen I got the car it had no rear shakers. I just got a descent price on a pair and went to install them. They would not line up without repeated sessions with the hammer.

Has anyone else had this experience with fitting or refitting cocktail shakers????????

Or is my car so screwed up up that nothing will ever bolt in correctly??

Thanks

Mine lined up fine. Which holes were off? On the rear, if the quarters were replaced, that can shift the upper mounts. The lower holes go through a feinforcement plate that's welded to the rear frame rails so that should be OK although they're prone to rusting out.On the front, it's the radiator support and fender/extension location. But you shouldn't have to persuade.

69Rad -

Are you sure you got a set from a '69? I think (although I could be wrong) that there are slight differences between '67, '68. & '69.

They are a pain in the hands to install but uless you have them for the wrong year they line up pretty easy. The trunks are a drop in. The front are not hard except for the fact they require bloody knuckles and removal of everything around them. On my RS/SS you have to remove the air tank and battery tray, than the headlight bucket but after that it isnt too bad. Make sure you have a paper towls ready to catch the blood. It sounds like you have them for the wrong year. Did you change the fluid and clean them up before install?
Good Luck,
Mike

They are the right year and are now installed.

The brackets just need some light tapping.

Beacuse of the weight it does not take much for them to slightly bend the brackets if they have rolled around or just been laid down on the brackets.

Thnaks for the responses
