i got hold a pair of cocktail shakers for my 69 rs vert. i bought them a while ago and just tried to install them today. i noticed that the longer leg that bolts to the fender and fender extension isnt quite long enough. its about 2" shorter then what it sould be. can these be for another car or maybe a 67 or 68. i can check it for my 68 vert but i really need a pair for my 69. can someone tell me if the front shakers are diiferent for 67-69.

I don't know if there is a difference between years. There is a difference between front and rear. I have a "68" and need a passenger front. I hope these work out for you. I know how hard they are to find.

I don't know if this helps, but I was talking with someone up at the "Corvair Ranch" in harrisburg, pa. They told me that the cocktail shakers in those cars are the same as the ones in camaros.

Again, dont know if this is true, but if it is you could probably get them cheaper.

good luck

Jeff, they are counter balance weights that go in the front fenders to compensate for the electric motors on a power top convertible.

Next time try dumb not dum http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif

I don't remember where I saw this but I believe I've read that 69 are different from 67&68.

The 69's differ from the earlier ones. It sounds like you have the earlier model.

actually they don't have anything to do with the top motor. they go not only in the 2 front corners but the rear corners in the trunk too. they help to dampen road vibrations that convertibles have due to not having a roof.

i know the rears for the 69's are different. how much different can the ones from the front be? it looks like all the bolt wholes would line up if the leg was just a little longer. another question, i thought the shakers were for all verts and not just the power verts? i thought it was used as somewhat of a counter weight to compensate for the lack of a roof for stiffening. i dont see any reason it would be used for the hydrolics for the power top.

The outer bottom leg is longer on a 69 than on a 67/68 because it gets attached to the flange that holds the lower fender extension onto the fender. The joint between the fender and fender extension is lower on a 69 than on the previous years.

The location of the upper arms that attach the shaker to the core support may be higher up on the cylinder due to the change in upper fender contours as well.

All convertibles have them, not just power top cars. The rears are different in a 69 from the previous years as well.

mark,

thanks. that was the answer i was looking for. i guess my search for more shakers continue. i wish i had known this last year. the guy who sold them to me said they were for a 69. i have seen a few 69 shakers go by on ebay but didnt bid 'cuz i thought i had a pair. oh well, at least now i have fronts for my 68 vert though i was not planing on putting them in there. i was going to go with the chassisworks front sub swap for the 68.

I thought of this today. They may be shakers for a Firebird. Pontiac also used the shakers I would think they would be different. Sounds like from previous post you have "68" shakers. If you would like to sell one or both. I am interested.
