: Convertible Rain Gutter install help needed

Since I can't post in the Convertible section, I thought I would try a quick post here.

I am trying to install a new fiberglass rain gutter unit that collects the water running off the conv top and diverts it to the qtrs.

I can't figure out how to get the thing in place in one piece. Sure, the old cracked in half one came out no problem.

Can anyone out there help?

(I've tried through the trunk with no luck, as well as from the interior- which gets close, but I don't want to crack the fiberglass trying to make the bend)

Thanks

I haven't done this and I need to replace mine also, but I do know that it installs though the trunk. I looked at mine last year and at that time I decided to duct tape it together. On your back, and in the trunk, you can see the fasteners. Goodluck! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The convertible area is an archive of posts about convertibles that is read only. As the moderators go through the other forums they move any convertible threads they find and feel are of value to it.

Please only post a thread once, it creats problems having the same question in several places. Thanks,

It has been over 15 years since I had mine apart, so I'm going off of memeory here, and I'm not absolutely positive. Proceed carefully!!

The top is attached at the rear by tack rail(s) that bolt to the body. I am pretty sure that if you unbolt these tack rails(leave the top stapled to the tack rails), you can get the top out of the way and gain clear access to the rain gutter. Once it's replaced, simply bolt the tack rails back in place.

DjD- can you please delete the one in "body" - thanks, sorry about the duplicates.

Back to the topic-

I spoke with a guy at Classic Industries that did a replacement on his car, and helped me with mine, as it is replaced accessing from the interior, and you just need to grin and bear it while forcing it a bit, it creaks and groans, but it will make it in.

Thanks

I did mine from the inside and unbolted the tack strip like BPOS said. Everything went smooth. I even poured a cup of water into the gutter after I mounted it and watched it drain.

DTB,
I may have asked you before, but when will we see more pics of your car?
