My power top line is leaking!!! It is leaking ATF at the fitting where the plastic line is crimped onto the fitting that screws into the lift cylinder! Does anyone know what type of fitting that is or who sells it or who might be able to fix it? This is a new set of lines purchased in the last six months and I don't want to drop another $90 on lines if I can just crimp on a new fitting!

Paul, I've never seen the individual parts, maybe someone else has... Have you gone back to where ever you got the lines? If the retailer won't swap them maybe they'll give you a name and number of the manufacture. I've found because our cars are not daily drivers some parts manufactures and even retailers will exchange beyond warantee time limits.

I called Ricks and they said that there is NO warranty on the lines....They did however suggest that I could buy some new ones from them.

Mine leaks also, i've been over the lines a million times, and have replcaced the o rings as well, I'm pretty sure the next time i'm in there i'll find a cracked cylinder in the fitting area... I'll wait till the 427's installed before i sweat the small stuff..

I think I'll just settle down and find a logical solution. I just get frustrated because I seem to be fixing and refixing and refixing....after a while it kind of gets on my nerves!

Ever try to raise or lower a power top manually? You would have to remove the hyd cyl's and then there are no clips to hold the top down when on the road...

Paul - any chance Ricks will tell you who manufactures the hoses or did the orig packaging have anything on the manufacture?

The person that I talked to played dumb and said it was from some local place that makes the hoses. I could call back and be more persistant, but I think that I'll just try to get a fitting put on and if that doesn't work then I'll get a new lower line from somewhere more reputable that has a warranty.

I'm not trying to bash anyone or start some vendor bashing thread, I just don't have the energy to "motivate" them into giving me a warranty replacement part. I'll just work around them to find a solution. As the old saying goes....Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

I know your not bashing Paul. The sad part is I'm sure the guy that starts a company like this never intended for the front lines that deal with the customer to ever leave someone hanging or dis-satisfided. I truly understand being worn out and beaten down by having to take names, record times and what was said every time I deal with someone providing services. Everything from car parts to phone and cable service. Anyway, that's not here or there as far as getting your leak fixed... I'll ask around locally and see what I can find out...

Paul, try the caterpillar dealer on Country club @ US60. They have a good selection of high quality hydraulic hoses. If they don't have it they can get it made.

That's why I like my manual top.

Is this a common problem with new lines? Is there a better place to get them? I'm asking because on my winter to do list is to get the power top working. I need the pump, lines, lifts, and all the electrical wiring. Don't ask my why someone would strip all this out except for the lifts, but they did. Geesh
