I guess the first question is, does anyone make them for convertibles? If so, has anyone 'out there' tried them? I've seen them advertised for coupes with the "does not fit convertibles" caveat.

I think Global west makes a set for ragtops. Anyone who has them care to chime in?

Did you try a search in "brakes and suspension". Might find the info you need there.

I used the Global West connectors. They are the only ones that I know of that makes them for 'verts so that no cutting of the floor pans is required. They bolt on in the front and weld to the frame rails in the rear. They come with solid bushings to replace the rear-most body bushings as well. My car feels much more solid now and they do not hang too low.

The only thing I didn't like about the global west ones was how far they hang down , A buddy of mine has them on right and we are replcing them with the Detroit engineering ones , they stiffen the car up better but you have to cut the floors .

My headers hang lower than the connectors. They are right up against the floor pan on mine. Just the diameter of the tubing lower.

They do hang down a bit, but like many I didn't want to hack into the floor or crossmember.

I'm going to put the Detroit engineering ones in mine when its time , if you cut neatly you can always remove them and then just Mig the pieces back in , it's not to bad at all just a little more work . It's just with a lowered car the Global west ones are just a bit to low for me .

I installed Global West SFC's, and I couldn't be happier! Really improves the handling, steering and ride quality. Very crisp and precise. I like to hit Mulholland Dr on Sundays, and love the twisties, so handling is important to me.
My car isn't lowered, so I don't have the clearance problems. They do hang down, but as stated previously by Randy (the White Rat), just the tube diameters. I have had no clearance problems whatsoever.
BUT, I would think twice about cutting the floor of ANY F-body convertible!
The biggest reason is structural integrity. I did not want to cut any part of my car due to structural stresses. The last thing I want to do is cut the floor, where I need the strength the most. I can see using the Detroits for a coupe, but, in my opinion, cutting any part of a convertible is weakening the structure. These cars need all the help they can get! Again, JMHO.

I cut mine but have custom sfc's . If you weld the cut out edges to the sfc, there's no weakening.

Sorry I have been away from the site for so long guys but my new baby boy has kept me busy.

I did mine like jeffs except I took the pieces that I cut and fliped them over and welded them back in to reinforce any weakness that my have caused. They bolt up tight and no hacking of the floor board was needed. the Detroit speed conecters are very trick if you don't mind cutting the floor. Eather way the differance in ride is well worth it even if they do hang a bit with no mods. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
