Can anyone help me with installing these clips. I cannot figure it out. I am installing them on a 68 Camaro convetible. I am ultimately trying to put a convertible boot. When I install the boot it pulls the molding away from the body. Thanks. graemlins/clonk.gif

Good luck. Not many people (incuding me) get those things back on right once the molding has been removed. I could never get mine tight against the body after it was off for repainting, and taking that strip off and on destroys the paint.

You are not going to avoid the molding be pulled at least a little bit away from the body. When the clip is properly installed, the clip only touches the molding. So as the boot stretches out, it will pull less and less on the molding.

I used a rubber mallet to install the molding. If you want extra holding power, you could install more clips. I think that there should be 8 total. Don't forget that there are screws that hold the molding to the body as well. I think that there are 6 screws total. They are a b*tch to get on with the top installed.

Thanks for the advice, but I am still not sure how to secure the clips to the car or the molding. Can anyone help. Thanks

Don't they just push on to the molding? Sad, but I've never actually installed my brand new boot - too dang tight!
