Hey Bills69, Can you post a picture of your speaker project for the back. I like your idea.
I have spent a lot of time trying to figure the best thing for speakers in the back. Right
now I just the wiring coming up from behind the back seat. Then, I just an exposed speaker propped up in each corner of the back seat. No one ever gets in the back seat anyway. I want a more permanent solution though. I would like to see your innovative idea! Thanks

I was able to fit mine in the rear panels. I obviously had to cut a hole to fit them. They fit tight but was able to get them in. check out my website to see if you like how it came out and decide whether or not you would like to put them there. The pics should be in the interior section of my homepage.

i did not think there was enough room for top frame. did you use a thin type speaker?

that's a pretty awesome setup, daman. The rear side speakers, are they sitting below the folded down top frame? How far back do they protrude into the well? Do you have the rear of the speakers covered with anything?

Thanks for taking time to look at the site. I appreciate the compliments. I used the DB series from Polk. The speakers are 5 1/4 inches. The top comes within 1/2 inch of the magnet of the speaker. Like I said, it is a close fit but I was able to get it in. The rear of the speakers touch the brace where the top is bolted on to but was assured that it would not affect the performance of the speakers. Because of this, the panels arch approximately 1/4 of an inch inward. However as you can see on the site, both upper and lower portions of the rear seats fit perfectly. If anyone is thinking about doing this set up, he/she would have to be careful to measure properly prior to installing. If the hole is cut 1/2 inch to the left, right or up, the speakers won't fit. Other than the year one setup, this is the best I could come up with. I tried pods and they didn't look correct. I don't like blasting the music all the time but do want the power when I crave it. John Rager recommended the amps and I am happy I took his advice. The system sounds awesome.

I was wondering the same thing about the Undercover II speakers. Will they fit under the seat? I guess I will find out. If they are a little tight I was thinking about shimming the seats up a bit but with my stock steering wheel and no tilt would make it even more difficult to get in and out of the seat. I think I will go with the Custom Autosound USA-630 stereo with the kenwood dash speakers and kick panel speakers run off the stereo watts. (Kick panel speakers wired as rear speakers.) Then hook up an amp to the undercover II speakers. I think the 8" speakers would sound ok with a bit of power put to them. Hopefully that will be enough with the top down. If nobody replies with any comments about how the undercover speakers fit under the seats, I will let you know when I get them.

I tried these on my 69, they would not fit under the seat, I ended up butchering them with a grinder to make them fit and the seat adjustment still wouldn't work and even after all that they sounded awful under the seat. So I ended up wrapping them in leather to cover up my butcher job and laying them in the back seat. When I go to shows I just unplug them and stuff the wire in the seat. Hope this helps your decision.

Hey Kent, Thats what I was affraid of. It would be nice if they fit good and sound good under the seat. How do they sound when they are on your back seat? I guess speakers on the back seat or floor infront of the back seats is the way to go. Maybe I will put a sub in the trunk to add the base.
Thanks

They sound decent, to tell you the truth I very seldom have them on. I have a new big block and I like to listen to it. I am sure there are better sounding speakers out there. I would not buy these again. Good luck.

I make a panel to hold two 4x6's under the center speaker grill and added a compact sub in the trunk. Sounds good to me.

ive got the undercover speakers under my seats. i thing i put them in there about 2 years ago. i bought round metal spacers for the seats. I think about 1/2 inch. it fit well after putting in the spacers. the speakers are designed with shoulders on the sides of them. the seat frame stradles the shoulders. i have pics somewhere if i can find them. i will try to get some pics up.
