View Full Version : "Host families in Seattle"
MrDanB Apr 27th, 03, 09:53 AM To all: If anyones interested in coming to the All Chevy Show in Bellevue, Washington,
(Aug. 15-17) but need lodging assistance, we will have "host families" who are willing to let you stay with them during the event! After all, driving inter-state can be expensive. If anyone is interested, feel free to e-mail me OR info@allchevyshow.com ...I would hate to see anyone miss out on the fun simply because of lodging issues... graemlins/boring.gif I will try to place similar folks together smile.gif (i.e. age, car types, interests etc) This is going to be one of our best shows ever! Lot's to do and see here in the Northwest!
I look forward to meeting several team Camaro folks @ the show. graemlins/hurray.gif

DjD Apr 29th, 03, 07:49 AM Dan - this is a great idea. I will share this at our club meeting Friday as it may make the difference for someone with limited funds that wants to partake.
MrDanB Apr 29th, 03, 01:58 PM Thanks Dennis! I look forward to having you + others up here for the festivities! Bring some sunshine with ya!!! lol
Dan
stevo camaro Apr 29th, 03, 05:50 PM What's happening on friday morning? I don't want to miss anything, and if we stay with our friends in portland thursday night it may be difficult to get them going before 12 or 1 pm. :( (His wife is kinda funny you know.) ;)
Basically, I'm trying to decide whether or not to book thursday night too.
Dennis, what time do you guy's think you'll be heading up through here?
DjD Apr 29th, 03, 07:38 PM Steve - I think our group is planning on being there Thursday night. We'd like to do 2 days from the Bay area with a stop over somewhere at least Grants Pass, maybe a bit further. Club travel is somewhat slow as someone always wants to stop somewhere along the way. I figure an extra hr for every 3-4 it would normally take. It would be cool to have everyone going up the 5 in a caravan...
NWYENKO Apr 30th, 03, 06:32 AM Would love to have you guys stop in Gig Harbor on Thurs night or Fri morning, not much out of the way. Could go to the Tides Tavern, (beautiful view)for burgers or pizza. Jim
HawaiianCamaro Apr 30th, 03, 03:45 PM Ill be getting into Seattle at 5AM Friday Morning from Honolulu and will be heading straight out to the host motel. My sister and brother in law will be there Thur night from N Illinois. There not bringing a car but wanted to make the trip just the same to see whats its all about. Brother in law is more into Antique Tractor pulls since he has some of them.
if you run into a Mark and Donna Wise, be gentle remember ill get them converted from tractors and into Camaros in no time.
stevo camaro May 1st, 03, 05:18 PM O.K. It's official now. We reserved friday & sat. nights. We'll stay in Portland thursday night. I told them to be ready to leave dodge by 6:00 AM LOL graemlins/waving.gif We'll be getting up there around 9:00 AM give or take friday morn.
Hey Dennis, you HAVE to stop here too. LOL C'mon man, I'm only 600' off I-5. (The shop that is.) ;)
MrDanB Jun 23rd, 03, 02:09 PM Hey Stevo, We're only a month and a half away now!!! graemlins/hurray.gif Are you ready? Are you bringin' the old truck thing?lol Seriously though...It'll be great to finally put some faces to the names.

NWYENKO Jun 23rd, 03, 02:50 PM You guys are not going to believe this!! As you are coming this way we will be headed to San Francisco for a WEDDING!! :( Our son's best friend is getting married there on Sat. Since I am going to the Supercar Reunion I did not want to push my luck and skip the wedding for the Seattle show. I am really sorry that I will not get to see you guys that weekend! LaDonna is really understanding but I could tell she definitely wanted to go to the wedding. OH the sacrifices we make in life!! ;) Maybe this is how we have made it 38 years! :D
DjD Jun 23rd, 03, 05:31 PM Jim - post your address and leave the keys under the mat!! ;) We'll take care of the place (and Yenko) for you!!
Steve - the norcal bunch will stop by wed some time, looks like out goal is Roseburg, Or by 5:00pm so we can do some wine tasting which stays open till 7:00pm on wed evenings. That's also about 450-500 miles for some of us which makes it past 1/2 way for the final drive to Bellevue. It would be cool if we could do the Roseburg to Portland part together... Here's a bit of the breakdown;
SJ - Dunsmuir: apx 300mi 5-6 hrs
Dunsmuir - Roseburg: apx 200mi 3.5-4.5 hrs
Roseburg - Portland: apx 180mi 3-4 hrs
Portland - Bellevue: apx 180mi 3-4 hrs
When traveling with several cars you only move as fast as the guy with the lowest gears and smallest bladder so if my times seem long that's why.
If we get on the road by 07:00 we would roll through Dunsmuir about 12:00-1:00 and if you left fot Portland early thur (5:00am or so) and we could get a bit of a late start and all cruise out of Roseburg together...
I put the itenery up for anyone that wants to cruise along with a few other Camaros so speak up if your what to join in!!
Also for those interested the return trip will start Sunday and take us to Eugene or Florence on the coast and monday we'll head to Eureka and Tues will be through the redwoods and home to the bay area and SJ. It's going to be a full week of Camaro crusin' with some cool folks...
BPOS Jun 23rd, 03, 06:51 PM Could someone please tell me about the Show?? Is there a website I can look at? I live in Portland, and it sounds like fun!

stevo camaro Jun 26th, 03, 09:15 AM Yo dudes, LOL. Hey, when I recieved my tickets and reciept I didn't get a hotel events itinerary. Our friends in Portland recieved one. They faxed us a copy. Looks like lots of stuff happening for friday. So much that ya have to pick one or the other cause ya can't do it all.
This is just a friday hotel events summary.
Morning events: Dyno and tech session at carburetor & fuel injection connection. OR, Mall excursiuon at the north bend factory outlet mall. (God I hope I don't have to do that one. )
Afternoon events: Tour to Snoqualine Falls.
Or, Performance suspension tuning & alignment at Speedware Motorsports.
Or, Meguiars detailing seminar.
Evening events: Cruise to pacific raceways to watch Drag Racing. (Yeah! graemlins/thumbsup.gif )
Or, Cruise to xxx drive-in. (which could be really fun too.)
And of course, schedule and events subject to change.
There's the latest that I've found out. ;)
Mr.Danno B, which truck are we talking about? tongue.gif
DjD Jul 16th, 03, 07:11 PM Just thought I'd bring this one to the surface and add that we have about 6 camaros commited to making the journey from the Bay area to Seattle. Several more are on the fence...
If anyone decides to go that wants to hook up along the way let me know. I'll be starting an e-mail thread soon...
Here's the plans...
Wed 13th leave Bay area, our destination for the day is about 490 miles from South San Jose to Roseburg, OR. The goal is to get there by about 5:00pm as I found a winery with wed only happy hour wine tasting from 5-7. If we roll in late it's no big deal as it's the longest days drive of the trip.
Thur 14th we'll leave Roseburg for Bellevue, WA it's about 350 miles to the Days Inn
Fri 15th show agenda
Sat 16th show day!!
Sun 17th we'll get a bit later start and head for Eugene, OR It's about 280 miles
Mon 18th is off to the coast, Florence is about 60 miles away and then we head down the coast to Eureka CA about 325 miles total.
Tues 19th we leave Eureka for home (about 300 miles) we'll get off the hwy for a while and drive through the giant redwoods.

Steve, I remember some old '58? type camino/ranchero or something that you had picked up last year (pretty rough and needs work) I was just ribbin ya!
I am getting a little excited to meet you Cali folks! I took extra days of work and will probably be stayin in the motorhome to help with security and Thursday "tech-in"! (I own several sets of chinese finger cuffs and know how to use them! ;) )
Anyway, the drive up aounds like a blast! Maybe one day the red bomber will be fit for lengthy travell! I hope the trip goes reaaaal smooth for ya!

1967 Panther Jul 19th, 03, 08:14 AM If anyone driving from the south has an emergency or needs to stay over, I'm a mile from I-5 in Tacoma and right on hwy167 which goes right up to I-405. If you happen to break down or need assistance anywhere in Pierce Co. give me a call 253 896 2624. I've got plenty of tools..Just a thought. I'll only be going to the show on Saturday and will be around here before and after the show..
DjD Jul 19th, 03, 08:25 PM Thanks,
stevo camaro Jul 24th, 03, 04:30 PM Good to know panther, thanx.
Dan, oh yeah, the 60 el camino. graemlins/clonk.gif LOL
MrDanB Jul 30th, 03, 05:18 PM Host Family Notice: We are getting full on the host families program. If anyone else is looking for lodging assistance, Please email me by the end of the week (Aug. 3rd) We had much success in "matching" visitors with Seattleites. And are happy about the turn out.
Dan graemlins/beers.gif
Dan - I gave your e-mail to my buddy Randy as he's gonna be looking for a room. He was going to drive his 67 SS ragtop up with us but his plans have changed some. My family will be flying up and Randy will be riding shotgun with me and we are spliting the room charges up and back. Randy's looking for a place to sleep for thur, fri and sat night. Anything you can do to help with such late notice is appreciated. You should see an e-mail from him tomorrow.
Thanks in advance,
MrDanB Aug 4th, 03, 07:03 PM No Problemo Dennis! Worst case scenario...I won't get to hang out with the TC folks that much 'cause I live 45-1 hr NW of the college. I have room here @ my place for sleep/shower/etc., But If he doesn't have a car to get around, that could get tough...That is, I would feel bad not being able to shuttle him to/from the Boyle motel (hmm, I will have the motorhome @ the show, maybe I could get a room & let him stay on site...) I set up an 888# that goes to my cell, email me & I will shoot it over to you. maybe Sam could loan your pal his unicycle, although he might be embarassed riding it with training wheels and the playing card in the spokes :D :D
I'll do my best DjD! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Dan
Just a thought... If you have a bunk in the motor home at the college it would be fairly close to the hotel and we could shuttle Randy back and forth and offer him a shower once the hot water runs out... :D
MrDanB Aug 5th, 03, 01:34 PM Dennis, I found room for him (Randy). In either Kenmore, Wa...or West Seattle. Both are a ways from Bellevue. I'm trying to get my house empty so I can stay @ the college Fri-Sun. Maybe we can rig up a tent for him and then he won't have to worry about transportation... We'll figure something out graemlins/beers.gif Maybe gas powered rollerblades?lol.
Dan
p.s. Haven't heard from Randy yet...
1967 Panther Aug 5th, 03, 09:36 PM Hey, if anyone needs a place to sleep, just put on some ragged cloths, go downtown and find one of the many grassy areas to sleep on.Then head over to the Seattle Center for a shower in their fountian! Seattle has more homeless people than I've ever seen in my life! smile.gif
HawaiianCamaro Aug 5th, 03, 10:58 PM Would bet Honolulu has them beat. Places like NY/Chicago and some other cold weather cities give free tickets out to the homeless and guess where they end up. Waikiki!!! Est to have just over 10,000 homeless on Oahu alone :(
OK now back to the show. Ill be there Thursday afternoon at 1:05. smile.gif
Santa Barbara may have you beat Jeff. When I was growing up the mayor declaired "the fig tree" (Largest fig tree in North America or something) as an official postal address so that the homeless had an address to register to vote!! I think the nature of the idea was noble but all it did was increase the already large homeless population we already had.

p.s. Haven't heard from Randy yet... Again thanks Dan... If you don't hear from Randy we'll have to assume he decided to pony up the dollars for a room...
MrDanB Aug 6th, 03, 04:40 PM Dennis, How many folks do you suppose will be cruisin up here with you? Just curious...
We have a huge selection of activities spread out over the weekend, if anyone had a certain place or activity they wanted to see/do while up here, just speak up and we'll see what we can do! Several folks have mentioned taking a scenic trip through downtown Seattle, the waterfront, and a few other places... If the red bomber is runnin' I'm drivin' ;)
Dan
1967 Panther Aug 6th, 03, 09:10 PM Ya, Dennis. I think you're leaving too early. There's so much else to do besides the show. If nothing else just walk up and down Broadway on Capital Hill and check out all the wildly strange people there. smile.gif
I wish I could take more time and really see the sights in and around Seattle. The plan though is enjoy the show and hospitality of the locals and then make the trip home an adventure down the OR coast and through the CA redwoods. Just not enough time to do it all in one shot...
68rs406 Aug 9th, 03, 10:23 PM yeah, or drive up to tacoma for a gang shooting and to check out the "tacoma aroma". :D just kidding with you panther, but is that a tacoma residents anti seattle sentiment i detect? ;)
MrDanB Aug 10th, 03, 10:48 AM 68rs406,
I believe it was called "The aroma of Tacoma" lol Wayne Cody (old sports caster)said you could roll down your window while driving through Tacoma on I-5 and chip a tooth because of all the stench in the air. I don't have anything against Tacoma though, just never need to go down there...
Dan graemlins/beers.gif
1967 Panther Aug 11th, 03, 08:57 AM I have nothing against Seattle. I love it there. I think Broadway is cool as hell (I do, however feel bad for all the young, homeless kids wacked out on heroin begging for money) Other than that it's a lot of fun there. Yes, we get the Tacoma Aroma when the wind blows from the NW. Just the paper mill. You're right though, Seattle and Tacoma residence don't get along very well.
68rs406 Aug 11th, 03, 03:05 PM yeah, whats up with that panther, it's like seattle and tacoma have "city envy" for each other :D . i have nothing against tacoma either, though i am partial to seattle, and thats where the wife grew up. hey its all fun and games anyway, kind of like the ford chevy rivalry i guess. graemlins/beers.gif
