Is anyone going this year? I'm thinking about doing the Nashville, to Memphis stop.

I do have one question that maybe someone might know. If the second stop is in Nashville TN, why are all the rooms listed in Southaven MS? That's way far away.

I'm thinking about doing some of the Texas stuff....I just wish they would do the West coast start again, like it used to be.

The second stop is listed as Memphis, but is actually south of Memphis just across the border at the Desoto Civic Center in Southhaven, MS.

The Family events site doesn't give the address for the Desoto Civic Center, but Hot Rod's site does, see here: http://www.hotrod.com/eventcoverage/113_powertour/index3.html

Ray
PS, I plan to do the whole tour.

Oh, I guess it is closer then it looks. It still seems kind of strange have a stop in Memphis, and not stay there.

All I see for an address is this:
Stop #2 Memphis, TN
Saturday, May 31
Desoto Civic Center
Southhaven, MS 38671

I'd like to get a steet name so I can MapQuest it and get directions. Do you see something I don't?

Thanks

Since I live in Austin, I'll just be meeting up with the tour at the Fort Worth stop for the final destination. I am planning on going up there for Thursday and Friday. Will there be much going on on Friday or is most of fun Thursday?

That's great. I'm really looking forward to seeing that car. graemlins/hurray.gif

I'm going. We are going to Nashville, Southaven, and Jackson. I've never been before, it sounds like fun. We can go to these three sites and never be over 200 miles from home. Jack I've done some motel shopping (with help from family members) in all three locations as far as price, location, ect. if any one needs any information, contact me.

I live near Dallas, so a friend ('68 camaro) and I (71 chevelle) are going to join up in Shreveport, then cruise back home with the tour.

This has been posted here before, but there is a yahoo group:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/hotrodpowertourclub/
that has members who are past (and some future) power tour long haulers. There is some good information in some of the posts, although a lot of the post are just different members chatting back and fourth. This will be my first power tour, but I joined this group to get some additional information on the tour from the perspective of past tour members.

The North Texas Camaro Club will have several members doing the long haul. We will have a large presence at the Shreveport event and our club should be the club sponsor of the Dallas/Ft Worth event.

Print out the Team Camaro logo and put it on your dash. Makes it easier to find everyone.

Mar 26th, 03, 10:04 AM
rs1968ss, good idea! Also, put your log in name on the team camaro logo. we are staying at the fiddlers inn in nashville, motel 6 in southaven and days suites in jackson. anybody else staying where we are? most of our club will be in first generation camaros and a 426 plymouth hemi and a 427 64 fairlane thunderbolt. Randy, did you pre register? If you did, have you received any confirmation ? Will you be driving the camaro or the nova? I'll be driving a white 69 camaro with black stripes. I made a copy of the Team Camaro logo for my dash as you suggested. There has not been much interest on TC, but a lot of people from this area are going. Jack

Jack,
Assuming that I get this dang trans swap done I will be there in the Camaro. I have pre-registered and have been receiving the updates. The Nova would be too risky. It is an original car with 51k miles on it. I do not think I could trust it that far.

One of our car club members went by the Desoto Center in Southaven, MS yesterday to check it out. He said it was nice and had shade trees. (If the sun would only shine) The motels and restaurants are about a mile from the center.

The over drive sounds like a good idea. I drove my camaro to Paducah, KY last friday and from the looks of my mileage I need one. The price of gas in Nashville, Southaven amd Jackson MS is not to expensive according to friends and relitives. Z10, are coming to nashville also? Jack

I think Hot Rod isn't really schedueling things like they did in the past. I went on the Nashville run in '99 too. And there were schedueled gas stops every 100 miles or so, and they also had a start time and place to meet every morning. Are they not doing this anymore, is it to big now, or I'm I missing something? I guess we're on our own now, but that will really spread everyone out.

there will be a meeting in the mornings at a wal mart with "food and drink". the nashville walmart is on charlotte pike west of nashville. the walmart in southaven is close to the motels. gas stops and other information will be provided on the itinerary that we will receive when we register. i am the only one in our carclub that received an information sheet, of the ones that pre registered. we are leaving fri. morning around 7 and plan to get to opry land around noon. if i can find any more info, i'll email it to you. have a safe trip. Had a great time. Except for all of the rough roads! I posted several pictures on our clubs website at http://www.camaroclubkc.com/2003_power_tour.htm

I met several TC members as well. There must have been a couple of hundred Camaros on the tour. I broke a shifter cable in Lake Charles and then lost the alternator on the way back. Thanks to O'Reilly's I got back on the road and made it home. We limped into the store around 10:30pm. There was a delivery driver there but the store was closed. He called the store manager who called a salesman who came and opened up the store for us. We replaced the alternator in the parking lot and were back on the road. Thanks O'Reilly's!
