I'll try my best to sum it up without being so long. Its a v8 305 camaro. I was trying to tighten a rocker arm however the nut in middle to tighten is tight however the rocker arm /pushrod still is very loose and has too much play most the nuts dont have to be tightened with soo much force however this one is tight and u have to strain for the nut to tighten/turn anymore what im asking is will forcing the nut to tighten more damage the car worse??

Make sure your adjusting the valve at the proper timing. You have to adjust valves when the cam is on its base circle (when both intake and exhaust valves are closed). Otherwise you can wipe the cam lobe.

Is the stud pulliing up? -Had that happen once. If it is something is sticking your valve in the guide. Make sure all of your studs appear to be the same.

James,
Take a look at how far down on the stud the nut is going. It should be at about the same level as all the other rocker nuts. If it is down further you either have a wiped camshaft lobe, a terribly worn rocker arm, a stuck valve, or a stud pulling up. You should be able to tell if the stud is pulling up, just compare it to the others.
Hope this helps,
