Hi all, I'm new to the group, and new to camaros. Im a youngin, 16 and I want a camaro for my first car. I just have a few questions.

I'll probably be looking for an 89 or a 90, cause they are awsome. How much will a pretty good one run my wallet, I'm expecting like 3000 anyhoo. And would you all reccomend one for a high school student, mind you I'm in Maine with snow and whatnot.

One more question. I know someone who picked up an iroc for 1000 or so, he managed to find a killer deal. It's got an all glass tinted roof as well. Should I bribe it out of them for 1600, they've been working on it. It'd need 500-700 invested to get it working perfectly. Should I buy it, or wait and get one that comes running perfect?

I got an uncle who owns a car shop, he could pick me up one real cheap at an auction. Wondering if I should wait.

wow- i never imagined the creator of the universe would be a car guy- let alone a 16 year old one. and the fact that he comes here for help truly humbles me..
i don't know what those cars are worth- but i'd bet not very much at this point in time. most of the IROCs and such have probably not had a pampered life, so they will need work. if you are mechanically inclined- and have a bit of spare dollars laying around and the time to do it- why not look for a base V8 model with a carbed or throttle body 305 or something in it? sure, it MIGHT have been beaten during it's life, but the odds of getting a good one are better than a good IROC that doesn't need a lot of work. engines are an easy swap if it has a V8 already. plus, it might even have semi affordable insurance for a new driver such as yourself.
