View Full Version : Value of a '68 ss car?
rafbody Jan 28th, 04, 12:05 PM I got a call earlier today from a friend wanting to know if I would go look at a car with him. I just got back and it is a '68 ss 350 car. There is no documentation with the car. The original engine is in the car, (VIN on pad), it is a factory A/C car but the compressor is missing, the intake and carb have been changed. It has a 4 speed in it but I didn't look at it, consol with gauges and tic toc tac, 12 bolt rear end. British Green with black vinyl top and black interior in driver condition. Both quarters have been replaced with GM quarters years ago and is a pretty good job. Any ideas on what is a fair price for the car?
Kyvox Jan 28th, 04, 12:46 PM Hard to say without knowing the overall condition. If it's rust free, good paint, good interior, reasonable miles, I would guess something like $10-15K.
Luke68ss Jan 28th, 04, 01:07 PM I just paid $14K for a 68 SS, no documentation, but all the usual signs says it's legit. Non- original drive train, some rust bubbles. Engine is very strong, M21, 12bolt posi. I feel I paid $1K-2K too much depending on how much the rust costs me to fix. Call it first-timer naivete'. redface.gif
67ssrs350 Jan 28th, 04, 01:41 PM Couple years back, I paid 12,500 for my 67 rs/ss. No documention either, it does have the original drive train.I also had to fix rust by the way of patch panel on the right quarter, and couple holes in the trunk floor but nothing major. Sonny
z28man Jan 28th, 04, 02:03 PM boy you know these car's have realy went up , I have a 67 got it in 99 I have around $4K in it now after some work I did to it , it still need's a few minor thing's but it is rust free that is the important part , some guy walked up to me at a car show last summer and looked around at my car for 30 or 40 minutes , he asked me if I would take $15K for it ,,,,,,,,I laughed and said no ,,I thought he was just joking ,, but now that I have looked around he was not joking ,,, wonder what they will be worth in 5 or 10 more years ??

I wouldn't worry about over-paying a little. I'll bet your car goes up in value $1-2K sooner than you might think.......
