I'll be buying a Tach for my 69 project. It's a 69 frame off with a new Fastburn 385 and 200-4R tranny, 9 inch rear with 3:70's. It will see about 8-12 runs down the quarter mile a year. The rest of the time it will be a cruiser. I was just looking thru Jegs and Summit and wondered what advice you guys might offer about things like Tach size, face plate color, shift lights, mounting location, Brand, special features etc. Any good/bad experiences.

I just got myself an Autometer UltraLite 5'' in-dash 10,000rpm tach last Christmas! Haven't put it in yet, but looks nice. Can't wait to get the interior back together! (oh yes, got the matching 160mph speedo too)

Hi boodlefoof,
How's it goin? We met in Brainerd at the Mills Motors 4th of July car show. Click introduced us. Anyway, I won't be using the in dash at this time. Did you buy a new dash insert or how are you doing it?

Hey, I remember! graemlins/waving.gif How is the Chevelle doing? Get it out to BIR later last summer?

Well, with the '68, the dash guage housing has 5'' openings for the fuel and speedo gauges. I just removed the old bits and slipped the new autometer pieces in. Check it out on my website...

I did some work on the interior when I had time around Christmas. I'm hoping to get it put back together early in the summer... Then cruising time again! :D

Good luck with yours. graemlins/beers.gif
