Does anyone have a picture of where the '68 horns mount. I have a '69 and know about them, but my friend has a '68 and I can't help him. Thanks,

Hey...there are a few of us 68'ers here tongue.gif , but I'm not sure if my horns are mounted in the stock position. On my 68 convertible, they are mounted on the radiator support on the drivers side, one on top of the other. I know they are the original horns, I just don't know if thats the original location. I've seen horns mounted a number of different ways. I'm not exactly a "purist" so it isnt anything I really paid attention to.

Mines in pieces right now so I can't give you an athoritative answer without checking my assembly manual. But if memory serves, the horns mount to the hood latch support in the middle behind the grill.

Dnult is correct the horns mount on each side of hood latch support.I'd buy a 68 assembly manual, it shows wher everything mounts on car.

According to the Factory Assembly Manual, page 155, they are located where mine are, on the driver's side of the radiator support. The bolts go thru the headlight housing assembly. You made me curious, so I had a look thru my library of resto books. It seems the 69's are located on the hood latch support, but the 68's are as stated. Hope this helps!

OK, now to confuse matters even more...
There was a "low note horn" option on 68s (page 382) and those horns are installed on the hood latch support, but at the bottom, below the radiator. Seems they were added there, in addition to the stock horns. Then, go to page 435 and if the car is a RS, with the hideaway headlights, then the stock horns get relocated to the low note horn location.

I was at a show today and saw the driver side mounting and the RS mounting on the hood latch support. Kind of funny, but I told one guy his horn was full of water (ouch) turned upside down.

So are there two horns (high and low for that dual note sound), or just one? My 68 only has one, but not sure if that is original or not.

My car is a 68 RS it has 2 horns mounted on hood latch support.I just thought they all came with 2 horns.They are mounted down low on support. Is this only on RS cars?

Racermike: The RS horns mount of the hood latch support. Non-RS cars mount on the front of the radiator support on the driverside over and under.
