I know you are all gonan laugh when you hear this...I am not a car guy persay but i need somehelp, i own an 84 camaro Z28 H.O. and i believe the starter is done cause when i turn the key all i get is a click from under the hood i am assuming that it is my starter, my battery is fully charged so it can tbe that....theonly problem is that i have no idea where my starter is so i can take it out...can someone please help me, it will be greatly appreciated...thanx

graemlins/waving.gif First of all, welcome to the site. A lot of the times, a "click" means dirty or loose battery terminals. Re-check that, before removing the starter...

An "old school" trick is to have someone beat on the starter with a hammer while you hold the key in the start position. This is of course after you check your connections. It works sometimes but it also means your starter is going out. I guess first you would need to locate it! It is on the passenger side towards the backof the engine just below the exhaust manifold. can't miss it!
There are lots of other reasons it may not be starting -This is just a simple down and dirty suggestion!!

I had a solenoid that was buggered up so bad from arching (severe burns and pitting on the contacts) that it would click and not allow the car to start. It was a new starter to boot. Changed it with a Delco unit and works like a champ to this day.
