View Full Version : Why on earth would a question about synthetic oil be moved?

What the heck???????? Why was the post about synthetic oil moved to "bench racing". What rocket scientist is in charge of this?

It's a legit question and these myths and information are important to most here. I NEVER read "benchracing" where the other subjects are ...well let's say not exactly subject related per se even tho fun to elaborate on.

Synthetic lubricants are important to performance as regular oil, coolant, fuel or whatever. Synthetics are commonly misunderstood products and actually can improve the performance, cooling and longivity of ALL motors. I don't see those subjects moved to the "other" forum.

Inquiring minds would like to know

Jack, I moved the thread to Bench in hopes it would generate the input of alot more folks since the Bench is probably the most read forum here in Team Camaro.
As you know, I am a full blown advocate of Syns and I thought it would get alot more exposure there and more people are likely to use the 'search' function there since that section covers so much of the 'theory' that folks like to banter about, in addition to the more relaxed off the cuff topics.
We all have our favorite niche's and I would personally like to see an actual "Lube" topic header all by itself too. That would be up to Al.
But when I read thru all the posts everyday, the number of lube questions is very small compared to the other topic questions. So in a way, yes Im the rocket scientist that moved it, but I had what I thought was a good reason, more exposure there.
I hope this makes sense and you can see my motivation in moving it. Syns are the best.

Hey Steve!! I don't know who moved the thread, there are about 5 of us that can do it! It doesn't matter why it was moved, it's still accessable... What bug crawled up your shorts? Why the flame attack? Originally posted by HOTRODSRJ:

So you don't visit Bench Racing, the question wasn't directed at you!! If you were interested in responding would it be such an imposition to click the big blue link that says the thread was moved? I'm certain it would have been less labor intensive on your part than breaking out the flame thrower!!

Jim tried to get the best exposure for the topic, no need for your inquiring mind to get into a conspiracy theory. He is a strong supporter of synthetics.

First of all, I apologise for anything taken as a flame....it was meant to be more sarcastic...not condescending! Lot's of great people and smart ones at that, including DJD and Click! I have alot of respect for you guys and thank you for supporting the site as you do. ...so it was stupidity on my part not to re-read my post and figure out that it sounded as such... that is what crawled up my shorts so to speak...sorry smile.gif

Well...maybe I am off but the term "bench racing" indicates mostly BS subjects (and I think if you go there and read thru these I have alot of corroboration) to me even tho some of them are somewhat applicable. And on other sites that's where all the BS gets moved to as well. I don't consider this a "BS" subject.

Maybe I am different......I never go there because of this astigma, and I don't know about the traffic on this site?? I would also never figure to search synthetic oil at bench racing either...so...?? It's a technical issue and belongs in my opinion under TECH or perhaps another category since lubrication is so key to the whole mess. I see more about oil and specifically synthetic oil under the "performance" category if I do a search....why didn't it get moved to there (bench racing) too? But it's not my business with all due respect, so put it where you want. I just thought it was moved to the wrong place which I consider mostly "BS". Could be its just me..... I still don't get it??

Let's not beat a dead horse... Moderators don't get payed, an explanation has been given as to why it went where it did and it's been noted that another forum may be better suited. If any profound new information on syn oil comes out in the thread in question that isn't already included in some of the 174 threads I found containing "synthetic oil" in them, I'll move it to to the engine forum where the majority of synthetic oil threads already reside.

Steve I appreciate your last reply, thanks...
