badcam Jul 18th, 01, 07:29 PM those pesky lowrider punks sometimes put the speakers behind the seat. or on the rear seat bench, but that isnt worth ruining a good part. unless it allreadt has the holes in it
Frank Jul 19th, 01, 10:42 AM had the same dilema. i put two speakers, 4x6 behind the holes for the power top pump. the only problem is the rear seat muffles the sound. what i also did was i removed the front kick panels, put 6x9's in the air vent hole, covered the back of the speakers with plastic, they fit perfect, then i cut off the back part of the kick panels, put kick panels back on and now i have awesome sound through the vents. while some purists feel that you shouldn't do this, you would never know by looking because the kick panels look as should be. i realize i lost air flow and my feet but who cares, tunes are important when cruzin' for me.
fcracklin Jul 19th, 01, 11:42 AM Personally, I'd rather forget the speakers and run an open exhaust. However, I do remeber seeing somewhere that there are mini speakers that are very high quality. Something like 2 or 3 inches. They might be alot easier to hide. Unfortunately, I don't remeber where I saw them or how much they cost. Shouldn't be too hard to find on the web. Check Bose, maybe? That's all I got... hope it helps.
paceman Jul 19th, 01, 12:13 PM They sell brackets for rear speakers in convertibles. I have never seen them except in pictures. I think they are OEM.They mount behind the well liner.

mr69 Jul 20th, 01, 02:20 AM i was thinking of a mounting somewhere over the rear seat, but bracketed from behind somewhere.. It would have to be custom and not deface the seat, etc....Also, i may want to put something on the floor. I want the sound to come out with the top down, since its down most of the time....
Chris396 Jul 20th, 01, 03:49 AM They go behind the seat. The only problem is the top covers them up when it's down so you may want to invest in some kick panel speakers if you don't have them already. I think convertibles only had one rear speaker, but when you order the housings they send you two. I still haven't put mine in after a year.
