EEEWWW I hate that one! My Silverado SS did that when it was about 2 weeks old... thing would barely move. limped it 20 miles to the dealer, they said it threw a tps code, they reset it, ddn't happen again, and they sent me on my way, so I drove around the block for half an hour, till it did, went back, same code, I talked em into pulling a Throttle Position Sensor off a new truck on the lot, hasn't happened again, TG...

From what they told me, this limp home mode means the computer thinks something bad is happening...

"Reduced Power Mode" is usually caused by a ETC or Electronic Throttle Control fault. I am not sure if the 2000 were ETC, most likely they were. Have the codes "read" by a station, or find someone with a Tech-II and find out exactly what code is setting the light...most likely a bad pedal switch, or ETC unit on the throttle body. The pedals are usually held by 2 bolts and are an easy swap for a home mechanic, the ETC unit is more involved but still possible to do it yourself....Find the code first, before you open your wallet.

Yes, that was it... ETC, the thing on the gas pedal that tells the computer how fast I want it to go (lol), not the TPS.
